member of the month

We love celebrating our people! Each month, we highlight  members who have been putting in the work, showing up for others, and making the gym a better place for everyone. Whether it's quiet consistency or contagious energy, these members remind us what 2St is all about—growth, grit, and community.

WWhere are you from? I claim my hometown as Bryn Athyn, which is a small suburb outside northeast Philly. I grew up in a family of 6 kids (I am one of 2 sets of twins) and we were all over the place because of my dad’s job - Born in Colorado, moved to Pennsylvania, then to Sydney, Australia and Toronto, Canada before returning back to PA for high school.

What do you do for work? I work for the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) as a Special Agent (Criminal Investigator). My job is to investigate egregious pollution crimes. Before the EPA, I spent 4 years as a wildland firefighter for the U.S. Forest Service in Wyoming, Oregon, and New Mexico. I had the unique opportunity to fight fires all over the country, and spent time in Washington, Oregon, California, Nevada, Utah, Idaho, Arizona, New Mexico, Colorado, and Montana. Out of high school I enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps, and was stationed in Hawaii for a couple years. My job was as an Aviation Ordnance Technician working on helicopters. Basically I helped maintain,

load, and download different types of explosives and machine gun rounds on 2 different types of helicopters.

As a kid, what did you want to be when you grew up? A ballerina - I grew up watching my sister dance at the Rock School here in Philly. My dad didn’t think boys should participate in ballet. I also probably wanted to work construction like every other young boy on the planet.

What is your favorite local(ish) restaurant? Probably Jaxx, City Pizza, Barcelona, Fitz on 4th, Lazeez, or Eggcellent Cafe

How did you end up at CrossFit 2 Street? I moved to Pennsport with my partner, and was looking for a change of scenery from my

previous gym. It was also conveniently close enough to walk to.

Where I am from: Bellefonte, PA... it’s the middle of nowhere.

What I do for work: I am the founder and executive director of a non-profit.  Our mission is to inspire and equip the next generation in their God-given purposes.  We work with sports teams doing character development, run mentorship programs, equip local churches, and do resourcing. It is a gift and privilege that I get to do what I love everyday!

As a kid, what I wanted to be when I grew up: I had no job aspirations, but wanted to be a collegiate gymnast! Trained 20-30 hours a week, year-round from age 9 😬 Once I accomplished that goal, started thinking about the rest of my life haha.

Favorite local restaurant: Mighty Bread

How did I end up at CrossFit 2St?:  I have many friends who do CrossFit and love it, so wanted to give it a try! And have been having a blast.

Advice for new CrossFit athletes: Don’t be afraid to try something new, and get outside your comfort zone.

Favorite 2St memory: I don't know if I have one specific favorite memory, but I look forward to everytime I come into the gym.  The community is warm and welcoming, I am challenged each day, and the coaches are so encouraging.
