member of the month

We love celebrating our people! Each month, we highlight a member who's been putting in the work, showing up for others, and making the gym a better place for everyone. Whether it's quiet consistency or contagious energy, these members remind us what 2St is all about—growth, grit, and community.

For Pete’s Sake. Amazing potato soup.

How did you end up at CrossFit 2 Street?

I live down the street and thought it was worth a shot to check out!

Stick with it! Learn the more difficult lifts that feel uncomfortable.

Sporty, beer enthusiast, and quiet (that’s 4)

Where are you from?

Waymart, PA. Way up in the northeast corner of the Poconos, near the PA/NY/NJ tri-state area. Basically, it’s about as far away as my house on 23rd Street is from the gym.

What do you do for work?

I’m the Associate Vice President & Dean of Students at the Community College of Philadelphia. My job is all about making sure students feel supported. I oversee the programs and services that help students succeed. Things like advising, tutoring, counseling, activities, athletics, support for housing and food insecure students, and some other stuff. At the end of the day, my goal is to make sure students feel safe, connected, and help them to reach their goals.

What was the last home improvement project you started and/or completed?

Well, you know, we loooove all these new builds and their high level of commitment to roof quality. I spent last summer replacing the roof, and decided since I was gonna be in debt why not make it a rooftop oasis. An amazing place for my flowers to bloom and beverages to drink.

What is your favorite local(ish) restaurant?

I’m a sucker for K’far, Laserwolf, Goldies, and Dizengoff. I know that’s four places, but one chef developed them all! So, it’s like one place.

How did you end up at CrossFit 2 Street?

I kind of plateaued with my workouts and I got the good old googler out and put in “gyms in Philadelphia”. I emailed 4 to 5 places and George was the only person who emailed me back. The Rittenhouse gym is actually closer to me and is on my way to and from work. But George was like “I think you’ll like second Street.” And he was right! Thanks, George!

Advice for new CrossFit / BootCamp athletes….

Chat it up! I find the harassment of coaches to be a great bonding experience for the members. And the community has pretty cool lives and stories. Inquire, engage, and enjoy!

Describe yourself in 3 words…

I am inevitable (name that movie)

What fictional family would you like to join?

This is a tough one, is it the Kardashians because I want all their fame and money? Is it more wholesome folks with Pa, Ma, Mary, Laura, and Kerry Ingles? But right now, I think it would be whoever the family is that lives next to Dylan Efron so we could be neighbors and regularly bump into each other and then casually fall in love (or lust…whatever really).

What is the latest show you binge watched?

There is a secret cult viewing audience within the 2Street community that loves the reality show Traitors, and I became addicted because of them. Most recently just finished White Lotus and ready to jump into something new.

What is your favorite 2St. memory?

That competition thing whatever it’s called was a pretty damn good time. So was the trivia night. Basically, yeah, all the community focused stuff. I also really appreciate the chatter and jokes that happen. It makes the gym something to look forward to, not just for a good workout, but because you feel connected to the people. Even if I get a little shade from the 5 pm and 6 pm folks for bouncing between both times. If you haven’t tried the 6pm slot yet…just do it.
