member of the month

We love celebrating our people! Each month, we highlight  members who have been putting in the work, showing up for others, and making the gym a better place for everyone. Whether it's quiet consistency or contagious energy, these members remind us what 2St is all about—growth, grit, and community.

Where are you from? I grew up in Springfield, PA; The suburbs southwest of Philadelphia - Delco! I’ve lived in the city for the past 5 years, in Northern Liberties and then here on Front St.

What do you do for work? I’m a physical therapist. I work in a few different inpatient settings: an acute hospital, a skilled nursing facility, and a long term acute care hospital (LTACH), which is where most of my experience is, working with medically complex patients with a focus on respiratory (ventilators/trachs), cardiac, and neurological conditions. My main goal is to get my patients moving! Bed mobility, standing, walking, climbing stairs - very function based.

How did you end up at CrossFit 2 Street? I needed a change! I was unmotivated and inconsistently driving to my gym after work. We only live a few minutes away from 2 Street and Brandon had just proposed, so it was a no-brainer to kick start the prep for our wedding.

Advice for new CrossFit / BootCamp athletes…. Don’t compare yourself to others - your fitness level, the weight you’re using, your performance; the progress you’ll see within yourself over time is the best thing ever! Don’t be afraid to step a little out of your comfort zone to try new movements and make goals for yourself.

Who is the better chef, cook, baker or person with meal prep? Definitely Brandon. I am very lucky that he can cook, because I’m an Easy Mac girl. I do dabble in baking around the holidays!

Who is more likely to laugh at the wrong moment? Me for sure. Hard to hold in the giggles sometimes!

Who has the shorter tempter? We are honestly both very patient, calm and easy going, but I’ll go with me-I’m Italian!

Who is more serious? Brandon. He’s more organized and always prepared. For example, he is currently in charge of our passports and room keys on our honeymoon :)

Who is more likely to forget where they parked the car? Me 100%. A tad forgetful!

Who takes longer to get ready to leave the house? Working in the suburbs/having a commute, we have both mastered leaving the house quickly in the morning. For other events, I suppose it’s me. However, I do pride myself on not taking a long time in general - If we have dinner reservations in 15 minutes, I’ll make it work!

Who tells better stories? Definitely Brandon. I’m simply just not a great story teller. He’s also a dad jokester!

Who spends more time scrolling on their phone? Ehh that’s a close one, but probably me. I’m guilty of us having to start the show/movie over because of my inattention due to scrolling…

What’s your partners go-to take out spot? I would say Terrakawa for ramen or Sang Kee for duck.

BRANDON LEVI

Where are you from? I am originally from East Brunswick, New Jersey (near Rutgers New Brunswick campus to anyone familiar). I have been in Philadelphia for about 10 years now as I moved to center city in 2016 for graduate school.  After living in center city and northern liberties for a while, I moved (with Danielle) to our current home on Front St. in 2022.

What do you do for work? I am an Occupational Therapist (OT). As if that is not already hard enough to explain to some people who are less familiar with the profession, I am also a Certified Driver Rehabilitation Specialist.  Basically, I work in rehab for a hospital system.  For a while this was as a general OT where I would help people recover from injury/illness or compensate to learn to live with their chronic condition.  As an OT, this most often includes helping people learn or relearn activities of daily living (ADLs) like dressing and bathing among many others.  From there, I specialized in the skill of driving.  I do a variety of evaluations and trainings for drivers age 16 to 100 with just about any medical condition you can imagine.  Anything from learning to drive with Autism or Cerebral Palsy to driving with hand controls after a spinal cord injury.

How did you end up at CrossFit 2 Street? After moving into Pennsport in 2022 and walking by CF 2st a few times I mentioned we should consider it!  It was only after we got engaged in 2024 that we decided we needed a real fresh kickstart to our fitness journeys.

Advice for new CrossFit / BootCamp athletes…. Stay the course! It’s okay to be exhausted after each workout.  Scale to a level that makes you work as hard as you’re able.  The technique and endurance will get better and you will start to see the results you are after.

Who is the better chef, cook, baker or person with meal prep? I am the better chef/cook.  Danielle does more baking, but I would still be better at that too😂.

Who is more likely to laugh at the wrong moment? Probably Danielle

Who has the shorter tempter? Probably me, but I would say we are both such go with the flow kind of people that neither of us really gets mad too often.

Who is more serious? I am the more serious one. Danielle takes her work serious, but apart from that, I am the planner for most life things.  Except for our wedding — Danielle championed many of the tasks necessary to make the day happen! And she did an amazing job.

Who is more likely to forget where they parked the car? Danielle. Even if it is in front of our house sometimes.

Who takes longer to get ready to leave the house? Danielle, but she is really great at time to get ready so I can’t complain!

Who tells better stories? I think I am the better story teller, but I also have a bad habit of interrupting Danielle when she is in the middle of a story 😬.  I am working on it.

Who spends more time scrolling on their phone? Danielle, but it is probably a close split.

What’s your partners go-to take spot? Red Poke.  Which is kind of wild since she didn’t even like Poke when we met!
